Comfrey is such an amazing herb. It is known as a "Knit-Bone" herb. This is because of the component Allantoin which gives comfrey the mucilaginous (slimy) properties and what makes it such a great healing companion. It is said to relieve inflammation and swelling of muscles and joints in the case of degenerative arthritis, back pain, sprains, contusions and strains after sports injuries and accidents. We use both the leaves and root in our salve in order to get the benefits of the entire plant. We also use Horsetail which has the highest silica content of any herb, providing the structural "building blocks" needed to repair deep tissue and skin elasticity.

Essential Oil Helpers:

  • Copaiba Balsam: Most powerful Anti-Inflammatory EO
  • Frankincense: Helps with Chronic Joint Degradation & Cartilage Support
  • Lavender: Reduces Redness & Heat
  • Cypress: Lymphatic Drainage & Joint Swelling
  • Lemongrass: Repairs Injured Ligaments & Tendons
  • Eucalyptus: Penetration Enhancer
  • Marjoram: Muscle Spasm Relief
  • Thyme: Stimulates Blood Flow to Old Injuries

I like to say that this salve is the deep tissue healer for long term healing of injuries. If you are looking for instant pain relief, please see our Extra Strength Pain Salve. The two salves work wonderfully together as a super combo for both pain relief and healing of an injury.

*** There have been many studies done on the benefits of comfrey, but we do not make any claims or guarantees as to the healing benefits of this salve.

*** It is said that comfrey can cause a bioaccumulation of alkaloids in the liver. This has only been proven when taken internally and there is no evidence that using comfrey externally will cause this. However, it is suggested that you use caution if you have liver problems.
